FX Chains and Dry/Wet Mixing: A Beginner's Guide
Learn filter sweeps, reverb, delay, effects order and A/B checks without losing the original sound.
Processing order shapes the sound
A filter before distortion is not equivalent to a filter after distortion. Start with one effect at a time, listen to how it alters the source and check the gain before adding a second effect.
Dry/wet is a comparison tool
Dry means the original signal; wet means processed sound. Use a low wet amount for subtle reverb and delay, then compare against the untreated signal at roughly similar loudness. Effects should solve a musical problem, not simply make a sound louder.
Try a transition in SoundCode
Open FX Studio, choose the track or section you want to change, apply an existing FX preset and preview the result. Save the Session changes before returning to Arrangement Lab, then listen across the full song.
