How to Perform with Samples Using a Keyboard and Pad Rack
Create a musical groove with one-shots, sample layers and keyboard-triggered pads.
Pads are playable instruments
A pad can hold a one-shot, loop, multiple audio layers, MIDI notes or an effect. Start with three complementary pads: kick, clap and percussion. Give each pad a clear name so you can recognize it during a live performance.
Play from your computer keyboard
SoundCode Sample Machine maps physical keyboard codes to its visible pad rack. Trigger pads with number and letter keys, then release the key to end the trigger. Keyboard shortcuts ignore text entry fields, so you can still rename samples without playing them.
Record and arrange
Use the performance record button in Sample Machine, save the pattern and send the result into Session. Use its bar ruler to align the sample performance with bass and melodies. Learn how track FX and section transitions work in FX Studio.
