Shift-drag the ruler or turn Range on for a real time selection; copy/cut/delete selected layers and paste at the stopped cursor. One Undo restores the whole multi-layer edit. Tap the bar ruler (or focus it and use arrow keys) to cue Play from that position; Stop preserves the cursor. Use the overview to jump through the section; Follow keeps playback in view until you scroll or edit; Arrow keys, Home and End also navigate it. Ctrl/Cmd + wheel zooms around your pointer. Hold Alt while dragging to temporarily bypass snapping. Press Escape to cancel a drag without changing the clip. Dragging previews a snap guide and commits only when you release. Choose Move or Slip, then drag a clip to reposition it or slide its audio internally. Drag either side to trim. Use the top handles for fades. Tap a clip for exact start, length, source offset, gain, split, duplicate and delete controls. Empty space is allowed and saved.

ⓘ Why edit a track in its source module?
Session is the arranger. The source module owns the detailed creation recipe, performance or transformation that produced the track.
30-second lesson: Separating creation from arrangement keeps the Session simpler and protects reusable assets. SoundCode stores source provenance so a track can return to Instrument, Synth, Drums, Record, DNA, Audio Lab or Library.
Try it: Use the Source button on one track, make a meaningful change in its module, then return to the arrangement.
ⓘ Follow Session or keep native BPM?
Follow Session intentionally adapts a creation to the Session tempo. Keep native preserves its original timing and may let it drift against the Session grid.
30-second lesson: Neither mode is universally correct. Rhythmic material normally needs intentional synchronization; textures and special effects may benefit from running freely.
Try it: Audition the same creation both ways and watch the bar grid while listening for groove changes.
ⓘ What makes a section feel different?
Energy changes through density, register, rhythm, timbre and silence—not only by making everything louder.
30-second lesson: A professional arrangement develops familiar material. Use section changes to create expectation and release while keeping enough identity for the listener to recognize the track.
Try it: Duplicate a verse, then change only one or two roles. Compare before adding more layers.
