PLAY IT. SHAPE IT. KEEP THE RECIPE.
Choose any playable sound. Start playing.
Piano, keys, synths, bass, strings, guitars, brass, winds, percussion, vocals, FX and approved one-shots share one SoundCode catalog. The same asset stays available in every compatible module.
ⓘ Play Studio: piano, organ and transport
Make sound immediately with a keyboard, without a cloud render.
- Open Play Studio and tap Enable sound & test piano. If muted, tap Unmute and raise your device volume.
- Choose electric piano, organ, bass, pad, lead, pluck, brass, strings, marimba or flute. Load your own sample to play it across the keyboard.
- Hold keys for notes, use multiple touches for chords and slide between keys. On desktop use the printed computer-key shortcuts.
- Use Octave to change register, Brightness to darken or brighten, and Release for the fade after lifting a key.
- For organ, raise drawbars to mix harmonics. All drawbars at zero produces silence.
- If silent, check both app and device volume, the chosen output/Bluetooth device, and tap Enable sound again. Reopen after a browser interruption if needed.
Example: Choose ORGAN; start with the 8′ drawbar and add 4′ for brightness.

Nothing is sent anywhere. Your first key should always make an immediate sound.
QUICK START · PLAYABLE INSTRUMENTS
Pick a sound. Play your keyboard.
Choose a modeled instrument, enable sound, play the physical keyboard, then record your notes. Every quick choice is editable in the full instrument browser.
ⓘ
Choose a modeled character for immediate playing. Reviewed sampled instruments live in the sample browser below, where source and QA status stay visible.
Engine type / compatibility
Use this compatibility selector for old SoundCode recipes or direct engine access. The modeled browser above is the recommended path.?
Beats per minute controls the musical clock. Use −/+ for one-BPM steps or type an exact value. Routed material keeps the destination Session tempo unless you explicitly choose native timing.
ⓘ
Lower brightness makes the sound darker. Higher values reveal upper harmonics without changing the notes.
ⓘ
Release controls how long the sound fades after you lift a key.
KEY PERFORMANCE RECORDER
Play it first. Keep the performance.
Tap Record, then perform directly on the keys below. SoundCode captures note, timing and duration so the result stays editable in Session and MIDI.
Touch several keys for chords. Slide to change notes. On a computer, use A–W–S–E… or focus a key and hold Space.
ⓘ Loops, recording, saved takes and Play exports
Place or record notes, then keep both audio and an editable recipe.
- Set BPM and a 1-, 2- or 4-bar loop. Tap grid cells to place notes; tap existing notes to edit pitch, beat, duration and velocity or delete them.
- Use Play loop to listen and Stop to edit. The grid scrolls horizontally on small screens.
- Record one loop captures keyboard input and keeps existing notes as an overdub. Quantize aligns recording to sixteenth notes.
- Save take stores it in this browser. A matching name replaces the saved take; use a new name to preserve an alternative. The list retains up to 12 takes.
- Export WAV produces 48 kHz stereo 24-bit audio. Export MIDI preserves notes/timing; assign an instrument in your DAW.
- Export Sound Code keeps the instrument settings, notes and included sample data. Reopen it with the file importer or paste its JSON.
Example: At 126 BPM, add C4 on beat 1, G4 on beat 2.5 and E♭4 on beat 4; play, save as FIRST_GROOVE and export.

REUSABLE CREATION GRAPH
My Instruments & Sounds
Saved outputs stay reusable across SoundCode. New edits become versions or descendants; originals stay intact.
Play a Library render
In Studio, select a rendered version and choose Play rendered sound. Load it here as a pitched sample, then record or sequence it.
This plays the entire rendered phrase, not a live copy of the synth. Sources must be eight seconds or shorter. Playback converts the render to mono PCM16; the original cloud WAV stays unchanged.

ⓘ Microphone and authorized samples
Preview your audio before using it as an instrument.
- In Play → Your samples, press Record microphone and allow permission. Recording stops after 7 seconds, or use Stop microphone.
- Preview the recording, rename it, then Use my recording as source or Discard recording.
- For an uploaded file, select a rights declaration before choosing audio; use a file up to 8 seconds and 20 MB.
- Set the sample root note to its original pitch, then play other keyboard notes.
- Set start/end seconds under Trim loaded sample. Normalize raises its loudest peak and background noise. Apply trim replaces the currently loaded sample.
Example: Record a short “ah”, preview it, use it as source and set its root note before playing a melody.
Full guide and current limitations →Import an authorized sample here. Microphone/vocal recording belongs in the dedicated Record Lab; this Instrument recorder captures your key performance as editable MIDI-style notes.
ⓘ
Choose the note your original sample plays. The keyboard speeds or slows it to reach other notes, so duration changes with pitch.
