Drum Lab
Build a semi-produced drum section with probability, ratchets, micro-timing, per-hit velocity, lane synthesis, Euclidean rhythms, ghost-note intelligence, controlled mutation and scene variations—then hand it to Session or Ableton as editable material.
?
Beats per minute controls the musical clock. Use −/+ for one-BPM steps or type an exact value. Routed material keeps the destination Session tempo unless you explicitly choose native timing.
ⓘ What does probability actually change?
It decides whether a programmed hit occurs in the frozen performance; it should not randomly change every time the same saved creation plays.
30-second lesson: Probability is useful for controlled variation. SoundCode freezes the chosen outcome when you save or send the groove so preview, Session and export stay reproducible.
Try it: Lower one percussion hit to 50%, create a new performance seed, and compare the pocket before saving.
ⓘ When does humanize help?
Small timing and velocity variation can make repeated programming feel performed, but too much makes the groove late or unstable.
30-second lesson: Humanize should preserve the identity of the groove. It is not random sloppiness. Compare against the straight version and stop before the main pulse becomes unclear.
Try it: Start near zero, raise it slowly, and listen only to kick, hats and percussion before adding other parts.
ⓘ Why can clean audio still need headroom?
Several individually safe sounds can sum above the output ceiling. Transparent shared attenuation protects the mix without changing their relative balance.
30-second lesson: Peak protection is a technical safeguard, not mastering and not a musical-quality certificate. Distortion already baked into a source cannot be repaired simply by turning it down.
Try it: Compare an overloaded stem sum before and after transparent attenuation at matched monitoring level.

Saved outputs stay reusable across SoundCode. New edits become versions or descendants; originals stay intact.
HANDOFF
Editable MIDI transfer creates independently editable, mixable Session lanes. SoundCode's built-in synth voices approximate the Drum Lab timbre; user-supplied samples keep their original bytes and rights declarations. For exact original processed Drum Lab audio, select the WAV handoff instead. Solo affects only live preview; saved exports retain all unmuted lanes.
APPROVED SOUND SOURCES
Approved drum machine sounds
Only rights-cleared sounds with passing technical audio checks are shown. A separate producer-listening certification may still be pending.
No legally cleared and technically passed sources for this destination yet. Unreviewed packs remain admin-only.
